New Blog

I have a new blog site! It's been taking the time I should be writing on here but that's because it's a work blog. You'll have to check it out at huronridge.blogspot.com. Let me know what you think. I'd been thinking about it for awhile but wasn't ready to commit yet until one day a few weeks ago, actually Family Day, I said to my father-in-law that I've been thinking about this and think we should do it and that I would be willing to manage a weekly blog for the greenhouse. He said something to Carol and away it has gone from there. There's always new things to write about and new pictures to show.
Tomorrow is Kev's birthday. Tonight the kids are at my parents so we are going to take advantage of this and go out for a birthday supper. I took this whole week off so I could do stuff with the kids and get the rest of my painting done. A few more hours and I should be done. It's all the touch up painting that takes the time but it sure looks nice when it's done. Tomorrow I go spend the day with my mom and then bring the kids home. We will have a nice supper and birthday cake with Daddy.

Terrible Blogger

I'm a terrible blogger....I just seem to enjoy reading better. I'm not at the computer much and seem to check Facebook more often. Just keeping up with emails is enough sometimes.
It's getting busier at work these days. Yesterday we stuck almost 30,000 unrooted cuttings...anything from geraniums to bacopa. Some new stuff this year too. I'm excited about seeing how these new plants grow and go over with our customers. It's good to try new things every year.
Josiah is entering playoffs this weekend. Hopefully the weather cooperates or it will prolong the season that much longer and it will get harder for Kev to take him to the games.
Our season of being closed or open by chance on Saturdays in soon coming to a close. As of March, we will be open on Saturdays from 9-5 again. If the weather gets nice, people get keen. It has been nice not worrying about having someone around to look after retail on Saturdays. The chance of anyone coming is not real great so a couple years ago we decided to be open by chance on Saturdays and it's worked well.
Today the Rest Home Bus brought 8 residents to walk and enjoy the sun. They love coming. There was also quite a group of ladies here walking this morning. They enjoy seeing the changes from week to week. It's been great to have them come Tuesdays and Fridays to walk....it keeps us connected with them over the winter.
Anyway, I must head back to work. I'm on my lunch break and there is still stuff to do. :)

Pictures from the holidays

Snow, sledding, hockey, food, games and good company makes for a great holiday. Hope yours was great too!

We are off to the Falls!

Kevin and I are heading to Niagara Falls for 3 nights and 4 days! It's not Cuba but that's ok! Our wonderful parents are keeping the kids so we can get away, just the two of us. It's been a yearly tradition for probably 7 or 8 years and started out of the necessity to just get away from the kids and reality. We started going there because it's easy on the credit card this time of year and we don't care if we're busy, we just want to lay around the pool, sit in the hot tub, read and relax. We usually go to the mall one day and just wander. Well, I usually end up getting some clothes. :) When the kids were little, this was sometimes my main shopping trip! We sometimes go see a movie but we read alot, sleep in, and enjoy eating out. When we come back, we're more ready to face the upcoming spring and the general craziness of life. So on that note, I better get crackin' cuz my hubby will be here soon, ready to pack up.

Interesting website to check out. It the Merry Christmas button campaign.
http://www.wmamc.com/

Our family is looking forward to spending time together and with family. We hope you do too and let's remember those who've lost loved ones either by death, sickness or separation.

We thank God for sending his son Jesus. He has changed the world and He can change our hearts.

Peace.

One of those days...

Have you ever had one of those days where you are completely worn out, everyone else in your family is too, nerves are raw, feelings ready to spill, and you just want to run away or hide in your bed under the covers? You feel like you have to be the steady one all the time, the one who settles arguments, keeping the peace, (including with your spouse!) but feel ready to just scream at the top of your lungs and let it all out? Some days I get sick of holding all my emotions in, biting my tongue (which I don't always do, regrettably) and being the responsible one. I just wanna have fun! It's hard to have fun though when deep down you know what you have to do. I hate my conscience! Mine is really strict with me and that's why I seem like such a rigid, no-nonsense person. Guilt is a miserable feeling too. I feel that alot. Fairly close to the conscience I suppose. Headaches are right up there with nasty "feelings" too. I seem to be having them alot more lately. Am I complaining? No, because I can still function fine. Just taking notice of the fact that I have them and thankful they are not migraines. I have a lot to be thankful for and I am really. I'm looking at my beautiful poinsettia sitting beside me and am thankful for my job. I see the ice melting outside my patio door and am thankful for my new kitchen. I hear my kids and am thankful for their health and sound minds which I have a part in shaping. So, I better go scream into my pillow (as Katrina shared with me that she does when frustrated) and get on with my life today.

Blessings to you.

Little by Little

Here's "during" and "almost done" photos of our mudroom. I told the girls they could have some say in the colour we painted it so they quickly decided on blue. I like it. It's bright and very easy to look at. Crisp and clean. Kevin is learning the dos and don'ts of tiling. We put a heating pad under part of the floor and are now wishing we had done the whole thing. Oh well...it's called budgeting. Kevin put a closet organizer in the closet on Wednesday night so now everyone can hang up their coats. It sure is nice to walk out to the van in the confines of the garage.
Little by little we are getting done.
