This is what we've been doing for the last month!

This is a picture of the kids picking pumpkins. We also grew gourds & little baby pumpkins.
We planted about an acre altogether but with the hot,dry summer weren't sure what we'd get.
When we started picking, we were amazed at the amount of fruit on the vines. So every evening and on weekends, we've been picking and cleaning and sorting gourds and pumpkins. I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth it all. On my day off, I started cleaning and sorting and ended up working at it for 3.5 hours and wasn't even done! The kids did what they could but they lose interest pretty quick so a lot of it falls on me. I was getting a little frustrated because I also had painting and regular stuff to do around the house. It's better now and when we start counting the money, it makes it worth it. This year we decided to half it and split the one half 3 ways and the other half will go towards our pool fund. It's good for the kids to learn to work for their money. That's one of the other reasons we do this...to teach them about work, saving and spending. You don't get something for nothing.
So if you need some pumpkins, we have a few left.
